You are there…

… because we allow you to be there.

It’s a matter of math.

When I was a police officer I worked in a city with approximately 100,000 people.  At any given point we had 12 – 15 police officers on the street.  This of course varied by the time of day and day of the week.

Detention facilities are the same.  The detainee to jailer ratio is insanely lop sided in favor of the detainees.

In both scenarios, the law enforcement officers and jailers remain alive ONLY because their constituents allowed them to remain that way.

It would be beneficial for elected officials to understand this ratio.  You remain alive only because your constituents allow you to.  If the general public wants you gone, given enough drive, you will be gone.
