When I bought my Google Pixel XL, I immediately ordered an Otterbox Defender case for it. I am completely obsessed with protecting my phone with a case and I’ve used Otterbox for years. So I go to Amazon and order one.
I put the case on when it arrived and like always was pretty happy with it. Except… when the camera used the flash it reflected off the case causing a flare in the photograph.
While we were at Disney for Tracie’s Half Marathon, we stopped by the Sports and Fitness Expo at the ESPN Center. There was an Otterbox booth. So I stopped in and discussed the issue with the representatives.
They took my case apart to verify the case was in fact an genuine Otterbox. It was not. They asked me if I ordered it from Amazon and I said yes. They told me that many Amazon products are knock offs/counterfeit and they see it all the time. So be careful. Their words were, if the price seems AWESOME chances are its a knock off.
I of course was pissed off with Amazon. But the Otterbox reps told me not to worry. The representative took my name, email address and shipping address and put in an order for a FREE warranty replacement with a genuine Otterbox.
I never expected that! It’s not their job or position to replace counterfeit products, yet they did. I received confirmation of the replacement yesterday and should be receiving it very soon.
If anyone wants to know how to take care of customers (even when they aren’t) and win a loyal customer (which I will be from this point forward) check in with Otterbox.
