Home Defense Products

By Scott

I don’t do product reviews very often.  Unless I become hyper-focused on something.  Like I am right now.  There are two products that I absolutely love with the complete idea of Home Defense in mind.  Both are “holders” or racks for firearms beside your bed.

The first item I want to talk about is PS Products Holster Mate Bedside Shotgun Concealment Bracket. My personal primary home defense weapon is a good old fashioned 12 gauge pump shotgun. I am not going to discuss why’s or how’s. It is is what it is. This bracket (or brackets) are placed between your mattress and foundation. The “wings” extend 12 inches under the mattress providing a nice “cradle” for your weapon.  Since it is rather generic, just about any “long gun” will work and fit just fine.  They are plastic coated so shouldn’t mar the finish on your weapon.

The second item is parallel to this one.  Magnets.  Primarily for pistols.  I like this particular set called
43 lbs Gun Magnet Mount 2 Pack – Rubber Coated Magnetic Gun Holder for Cars, Bedside, though I would not hang 43 pounds of weaponry off of these.  Mounted at an angle on your bed frame, you can hang a handgun on the side of your bed as well.  Or in my case.  DO BOTH.  With two magnets you also have the opportunity to put a small flashlight, magazine or other METAL quick grab items.

Either one or both will put your home defense weapon(s) within easy reach if you are in bed.

DISCLAIMER

Your weapons should always be stored and secured in a safe if you have anyone in your home that may accidentally pick one up or if you are leaving your home with the weapons unattended.  Both of these items are meant for the storage of weapons within reach while you are in bed and not for the storage of them in perpetuity.  Basic gun rules should always be followed to the letter.

While the advertisement for the magnets indicate you can use them to carry your weapon in your vehicle, check your local laws regarding this.  South Carolina, for example, this method of carrying a weapon is against the law.

These product recommendations are just that.  YOU are maintain full responsibility for the safe and legal application of their use.
