I was asked a question by a long time friend and former co-worker tonight about a new (or at least new to me) handgun ammunition called NovX. He basically asked for my thoughts on it. I realized when answering his question that many people like the “latest” and “greatest” technology when it comes to firearms.
As another friend of mine has stated, “There is a $500 an hour lawyer attached to every bullet you fire.” This would be especially true if fired at another human being.
So my short answer is no. I don’t use what I consider to be “exotic” ammunition. Or “new and improved” ammunition. I use tried and true, old school, off the shelf at Walmart for my carry ammunition. Name brand. Jacketed hollow points. With the same ballistic properties that have been tested, recorded, and proven accurate in court. Because I don’t want to have to pay my lawyer $500 a hour to research and pay for ballistic testing and evaluation of some round of ammunition. I would rather be able to get that information from previous situations where it is a matter of record.
So what do I carry?
Federal HST 147gr
Federal Hydra-Shok 147Gr
Speer Gold Dot 147gr
No RIP ammo, no NovX ammo. Good old street duty off the shelf ammunition. Don’t open yourself up for MORE trouble if you ever have to go to work with your weapon.
